Eastern Unicorns: Unicorn Picnic Productions

At long last, the East Coast webisode I have been working on in conjunction with Unicorn Picnic Productions has been released. It took a huge amount of work from everyone involved and was a humbling experiece for me, but I am proud of what we have produced. Thanks to everyone who helped and a special thanks to the lovely ladies I got to ski with. Paige and Carla are indredible athletes and people, and I had such a blast wandering around the woods with them these past few years.

Working for the Weekend: Vermont shredding

Here is the latest webisode from Ski The East and Meathead Films featuring Ben Leoni and yours truly. It was a low snow year, but a lot of fun and way better than sitting on the couch.

A few of this season's webisode releases

So, I have been skiing and not keeping up with my blogging, but I though I would post a few of the webisodes that Ski The East has released this year. The first series, "Neo" is Ski The East's webisode series presenting all of the new talent they have acquired in the last few years. With the changing of the guard comes a lot of new energy and great skiing. The second webisode series is "Working for the Weekend," where Ben Leoni and "friends" go out to explore the eastern wilds when he is not working as a lawyer in Portland, ME. I got to participate in this and had an absolute blast skiing slides, chutes and gullies in the Mt. Washington region last year. Hopefully I will get to do it again!

Pretty Faces, an all female ski film!!!!!!!!

When I got the opportunity to put together an East Coast segment for the all female film “Pretty Faces,” produced by Unicorn Picnic Productions and organized by fellow freeskier Lynsey Dyer, I was acutely aware that this could be a game changer not just for myself but for all of the women and girls involved and all who watched the film. It will be a chance to show the world that women are capable of great things and that we do not need to cater to a men’s standard to stand out. We ski for ourselves and have our own style. We are powerful athletes in our own right and deserve to be acknowledged. It is wonderful to be affiliated with a companies such as Mammut, Scott Sports, and DPS Skis who understand the value of women in skiing and without their help I would have a much harder time achieving my own goals in freeskiing. These companies help further the sport of skiing for women by increasing access and comfort  through quality products when we choose to push our physical and mental boundaries.

Please help with the Kickstarter campaign for Pretty Faces over the next few weeks. We have decided to do a crowd source funding initiative because it is our friends and family who have the ability to make women in skiing a lasting presence. Your help will make our dream a reality. Check out the link to the Kickstarter campaign here:

Big Lines, Badass Women: Nat Segal

This week has been a good week for amazing ski edits, and once again I am excited about the skiing that another friend of mine has put out here for the world to see. Nat Segal is bubbly and excited about every second that she spends on her skis. She hails from Australia but travels around the world and before she blew her ACL last year, was crushing skulls on the Freeride World Tour in Europe, Canada, and New Zealand. I am stoked to see what she has in store for us this year. I remember the first competition run I ever saw from Nat, and I thought, shit, she is totally going to kick my ass. She has the creativity and passion which are the most important ingredients in a good skier. She also dosen't mind standing around in the cold, although she is sponsored by Astis Mittens, so her hands will be warm until hell freezes over. She is someone to keep an eye out for as she shreds around the globe.
